dynaCERT and Cipher Neutron (CN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Molibdenos y Metales (Molymet) to jointly develop modern hydrogen technology.

Under the agreement, the two companies will develop, produce and market hydrogen technology such as AEM electrolysers custom designed to produce green hydrogen for Molymet’s facilities.

The MoU will also ensure that dynaCERT and CN will advance the testing of Molymet’s proprietary rhenium products for use in hydrogen electrolysers and other hydrogen-related technologies. The companies have a view of developing ‘superior and more efficient’ electrolysers and lower cost green hydrogen for industrial applications and energy storage.

Mario Lama, Market Development Executive Manager of Molymet, said, “The AEM electrolyser accomplishments of Cipher Neutron in collaboration with dynaCERT are the perfect technology to be evaluated in conjunction with the scientific team of Molymet to advance its research in optimising Molymet’s Rhenium reduction facilities.”

Chilean-based Molymet has subsidiaries and offices in the Americas, Europe and Asia to allow it to support its customers and supply 35{7bfcd0aebedba9ec56d5615176ab7cebc5409dfb82345290162ba6c44abf8bc8} of the world’s demand for molybdenum and 70{7bfcd0aebedba9ec56d5615176ab7cebc5409dfb82345290162ba6c44abf8bc8} of rhenium.

Jean-Pierre Colin, Executive Vice President and Director of dynaCERT, added, “Advances that Molymet is fostering in the Mining and Metals industry, especially in critical minerals, is important for the world economy and consistent with the dynaCERT strategy of establishing a very strong position to become a global leader of the hydrogen economy, not just with AEM electrolysers, but also in many green hydrogen infrastructure projects.”

dynaCERT and CN’s goals are to design and produce commercial systems capable of producing green hydrogen gas at competitive prices. By applying its technology to Molymet’s reduction processes, cleaner and more effective results will be evaluated.

Earlier this year, dynaCERT investment $17.5m into CN as part of a wide-ranging collaborative R&D partnership to develop green hydrogen and AEM electrolyser technology.

Under the agreement, CN will expand the development of dynaCERT’s previously announced AEM electrolysers to meet the commercial specifications of potential clients internationally, such as a 5kW AEM electrolyser; a 50kW AEM electrolyser; and a 250kW AEM electrolyser.
