Chinese grid signs agreement with Oracle Energy on Pakistani green hydrogen project

China Electric Power and Technology Co. (CET) has signed an agreement with Oracle Energy, to potentially support its green hydrogen project in Pakistan.

The Oracle green hydrogen project in Thatta, Sindh Province, Pakistan, is planned to boast a production capacity of 400MW, combining 700MW of solar and 500MW of wind power and battery storage.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), CET will potentially develop, finance, construct, operate, and maintain the Pakistani project. If fully commissioned, the facility could produce an estimated 150,000kg of hydrogen per day (55,000 tonnes per annum), making it one of the largest projects in Asia.

Feasibility work for the production of green hydrogen and ammonia commenced in the last quarter of 2022 with German multinational engineering firm, thyssenkrupp, with initial results expected in the second quarter of 2023.
