Sulzer technology enabling sustainable aviation fuel production in China
Sulzer solutions have been selected for high-quality Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production in support of China’s carbon neutrality strategy. Made from renewable feedstocks, SAF meets rigorous aviation performance standards while cutting greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80%. The facility, based in Shandong, China, is expected to produce 500,000 metric tons of SAF per year ? enough to fuel over 4,400 flights from Shanghai to Vancouver or Rome, but with a significantly reduced environmental impact.
Sulzer’s customized pump technology was selected by a prominent player in China’s chemical and energy industries to help meet the rising demand for eco-friendly aviation fuels. Sulzer is providing sets of customized pumps designed to reliably tolerate both high-pressure and high-temperature conditions for the necessary refinement of the low-carbon feedstocks.
Sulzer Executive Chairwoman Suzanne Thoma said:
We are proud to support our customer in reducing carbon emissions in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets.
” As a strategic enabler of essential industries, we strive to tie economic prosperity to sustainable growth and are delighted to see our technological expertise serve the transition towards more sustainable fuel options.”
