Seaway7 is saying goodbye to Seaway Yudin, one of the company’s founding vessels and one of the first vessels of its size to serve the offshore wind industry, having entered the offshore wind construction market in 2009.
In a social media post published on 2 February, Seaway7 said that the company said farewell to the vessel on 1 February and that Seaway Yudin “will enter a new chapter in its active life, under new ownership.”
The company did not disclose who the new owner is and whether the vessel will continue working in the offshore wind/offshore energy sector. OffshoreWIND.biz reached out to Seaway7 via email, with the company yet to respond.
Known as Stanislav Yudin at the time Seaway7 was Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL), the 1985-built vessel was initially working in the oil and gas sector, before sailing out to its first offshore wind project in 2009.
The first offshore wind farm the vessel worked on was Greater Gabbard in the UK, where Seaway Yudin was deployed to install the monopile foundations and the substation.
Since then, the vessel has contributed to the completion of over 20 renewables projects in the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark and Taiwan, according to Seaway7.
Back in 2013, the vessel was working on foundation installation at the Gwynt y Mor offshore wind farm in the UK, after transporting tripod foundations to the Trianel Windpark Borkum in Germany earlier that year.
Seaway Yudin returned to the Trianel WindPark Borkum area in 2018, when the vessel was working under a contract for monopile foundation installation on the second phase, Trianel Windpark Borkum II.
In the UK, the vessel was also deployed on jacket foundation installation at the Beatrice offshore wind farm in Scotland, which also saw Seaway7’s Seaway Strashnov (formerly Oleg Strashnov) working on installing the jackets.
In Taiwan, Seaway Yudin was chartered for pin pile installation at the Formosa 2 offshore wind farm.
