H-TEC Systems will supply four PEM electrolysers with a total volume of 4MW to the ‘Grenzland Energie Kompakt’ project.
Located in Westre, North Frisia, in Germany, the project is expected to serve logistics companies and service providers with green hydrogen, generated through existing wind turbines and a 4MW ground-mounted solar installation.
H-TEC Systems ME450 PEM electrolysers are anticipated to be commissioned in 2025, boast an overall output of 4MW and a total capacity of 1.8 tonnes of hydrogen per day.
The Grenzland Bürgerenergie eG, based in the Renewable Energy Office in Ellhöft, already manages one 1MW hydrogen system from H-TEC. It also operates a hydrogen plant and filling station in Westre, also supported by a 225kW H-TEC electrolyser.
H2 View understands the electrolysers will “soon be installed at the Westre site.”
Reinhard Christiansen, Regional Chairman of the State Renewable Energy Association and the Grenzland Energie eG Energy Association, explained the project will create a “fully functioning hydrogen market in northern Germany that is both scalable and transferable.”
Robin Plettenburg, CEO at H-TEC Systems, added, “The Grenzland Energie Kompakt project is an excellent example of how regional energy supply can be made more sustainable, and it shows the crucial contribution of green hydrogen.”
The project will also use the heat generated during hydrogen production to heat greenhouses in agricultural businesses, as part of its offering.
H-TEC Systems recently announced it will also deliver one of its 1MW ME450 electrolyser to a green hydrogen project in Sevilla, Spain, looking to produce up to 136 tonnes per year.
